More about Kundalini

Kundalini meditation, also called yoga, is an ancient technique that uses breath, sound and movement to balance the body and mind, increase vitality, heal and connect.  The breath techniques employed balance the left and right hemispheres of the brain (bi-lateral stimulation) and activate the prefrontal cortex.  They also increase the level of carbon dioxide in the body, which is deeply healing on a cellular level, as famously demonstrated by Wim Hof.  The techniques increase lung capacity, leading to improved health, a stronger immune system and better brain function.

Kundalini has its roots in the earliest forms of yoga and is true to the original intention of yoga, which is to “yoke” the body and spirit together (not just a form of exercise). It’s therefore perhaps more accurately understood as a form of meditation rather than the way yoga is commonly seen in the West. It’s more active and movement based than some of the breath awareness meditation techniques popularized by apps like “Calm” and therefore can sometimes be more accessible to the busy mind and those prone to focus issues.
